Need tire advice!

Ok so I am looking to get new tires soon, then I found out that the tires that were on the car when I bought it are not the factory size. It is not even on the list for pressures.

This is my door sticker, 2002 r50. 16" wheels. I am pretty sure the stock size is 195/55 R 16, but I am currently running 205/50 R 16. I personally like the look of the wider tires.

These are the tires on my car now. Rotalla radial f106. I don't know if they are run-flats or not but they feel super hard and give a rough ride. I feel like even if I keep the width, if I pick the right tire I can still get a nicer ride while gripping well. (These tires don't grip Amazing just alright)

These are my questions:
1: are my current tires run-flats?
2: would it be significantly better to go with the skinnier tires? Or should I keep the wider ones because I like the looks?
3: can I get some suggestions for some tires that grip well and are softer than what I have?

I am new to tire shopping so I appreciate any advice.

205/50-16 and 205/55-16 are common replacement sizes. TireRack.com has tire tests and consumer surveys to browse.

"grip well and softer than what I have now" is very, very vague in the wonderfully varied world of tires." Do a google search on Rotalla.
