Hi Gang,
New to Mini forum and need your help.
I have an 08 Mini convertible with steptronic trans and it is stuck in first gear. I just got this car from my sister and do not have its history. It shows XP,XD,XR across the board. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to reset the trans and get rid of the X?
I have looked online, but I can not find info for the 08 model.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

A 2008 Cooper (non-s) has the CVT....
Readup....it was the focus of a class action lawsuit....
Failures are usually pretty $$$, often totalling out the car....

A Cooper S (SUPERCHARGED) has a conventional wet clutch tourque converter tranny made by ASSIN.... Used in various cars from mini, to Audi, to Toyota, to VW with minor changes forceach application.
So first step is to be 100% sure you have the CVT transmission....
