my 2011 is running 16" runflats 195/55.
She needs new shoes. Is there any other 16 I can run without rubbing?

Any recommendations of tires that wont break the bank?

I use Pirelli P Zero Neros and they are a very good tire. You likely won't run into issues with rubbing unless you are changing the wheel as well. People run as wide as an 8 inch wheels on the Minis no issue.

 

Going from RF to NON RF, biggest change.

Run stock size or +1 size and you should have no rubbing.

 

205/50-16 and 205/55-16 fit and give much more selection.

I am running 16" wheels in the stock size, 195/55. Switched from stock run flats to Bridgestone Potenza RE 760 Sport a few years ago. Absolutely love this tire. Superb dry grip. Good wet handling and quite affordable too. It is NOT an all season tire, though. Strictly summer only.

 

All depends on your requirements.

Where do you live? Any cold weather down to 38 degrees or any snow on the roads? Do you have or need winter tires?

What are your road conditions? Any bad roads and potholes?

Do you have a base Cooper or Cooper S? What do you use your MINI for?

Daily driving, some spirited driving? Any long trips?

Most times if you never see snow or temps lower than 40 degrees you can get by with either Summer or All Season tires.

Summer tires are faster wearing, usually give slightly better performance and handling and come in various classes for those with sticky rubber (Extreme and Max Performance) to longer wearing and snoother riding (Grand Touring)

All season tires work well for those that want a blend of smoother riding, decent handling and performance, longer tread life and/or do some driving in colder weather or some light snow. You can still use All Season tires in warm weather but Summer tires work as well.

Tire size differences are mostly relatively small. 195/55-16 is the standard OEM size due to the runflat tires. If you move to non runflats you should have a plan in case of a flat tire. OEM 16" MINI wheels will fit several sizes as was mentioned and will have no problem with Stock suspension.

Tire selection my vary with the exact tire class and tire size you choose.

If you are most concerned with great handling in wet or dry you can check out Max Performance Summer tires, but these can wear faster.

If you are doing mostly daily driving and want a tire that you can live with then look at Grand Touring All Season tires.
