Any gearbox experts out there please?

Wow-it's be almost a year since I was last on the forum. Still enjoying the Clubman but a previous problem has reared its head again and whilst I can find reference to the same fault on the Internet, nobody has posted a cause. This is the scenario:
I have a 2009 auto cooper clubman. During driving the gearbox changes from 'D' to 'DS' mode all on its own, and drops a gear. The display shows this too with 'DS' on the display. Sometimes it flicks quickly between the two. It's really, really annoying. It makes no difference if the weather is warm or cold or if I do a long or short drive. It's becoming a real pain and I really want to get this sorted out. No warning lights come up on the dash display either.
Do any of you clever people have any idea what this could be and what needs to be done to fix it?

Posted in your other thread, but without proper diagnostic equipment it sounds like either a shifter control inside the car, possible damage to the paddle shifters on the steering wheel from said accident or you need a TCM fixed or replaced.

Yea, i would guess damage from accident or the sensor in the shifter column or the paddle shifter.
