"...though an electronic locking differential on the front axle should make it suitable for performance driving too."

Well, that's what MINI calls the software that applies the brakes on the faster spinning wheel, is it not?

£2785 extra? That's just shy of $4,000 US. The cost difference between a Countryman S and Countryman All4 is just $1,750 in the US.

Something isn't adding up.

I went straight to the source: http://www.mini.co.uk and the cost difference there between a Clubman S and Clubman All4 is just £1,550, or about $2,200 US.

That's more like what I expected to see. Call it $2k in round numbers, then the US MSRP of the Clubman S vs All4 should be about $29k S and 31k All4.

In the US, it will be a $1800 difference over the Cooper/Cooper S pricing.

Agreed. I actually think that with AWD, this car starts to look really competitive price-wise. You can snag a base one for a good chunk cheaper than a Golf R, even if it's not quite as fast in a straight line. Or you can spend Golf R money for something with similar cornering performance (esp. with the inevitable JCW variant) and a fully-loaded/customized luxury car interior.
