Unboxing the AWE Touring exhaust made me want to...
...put one in our waiting room on display. I love the attention to detail:
Unlike Asian-manufactured exhausts, the whole thing is not polished. Just the tips and the cans. Why is that good? IMO, it shows a commitment to substance over style. Most of the cheap off-shore exhausts are made of thin, poor quality steel, with atrocious fitment, but polished to within an inch of its life. When you open the box, your inner magpie is impressed with the bling, until you try to install it. The inconsistent fitment causes the exhaust to be 'loaded', meaning it's under tension. That combined with cheap steel and thin wall thickness leads to early failure.
The AWE exhaust is different.
It's got the bling where it counts, but you can see the quality in the construction. I decided to pull one out and stick it on the shelves in the office. Maybe not art to some, but to me: yes!
