The stock Manual Transmission Mini Brake Reservoir is a "shared" reservoir between the Brake Master Cylinder and Clutch Master Cylinder. With tap off from the side of the reservoir for the clutch master cylinder hydraulic line.
What is a popular reservoir on the Mini for adding a separate fluid reservoir for the Clutch and splitting the system in to two?
(original reservoir will then feed just the brakes and the new reservoir feeds just the clutch master)
Here is an example for Camaro (bottom of picture is an added Clutch Fluid Reservoir):
Many out on the Camaro forum have done this split (including myself). After mounting the new reservoir for the clutch side, the plastic clutch hydraulic line is then pulled off the brake reservoir and attached to the new clutch reservoir. The now unused port on the brake reservoir is then capped. Or can get a replacement brake reservoir with the port sealed ... Auto trans brake reservoir.
The main reason manufactures have a shared system is it reduces manufacturing costs. Find it is much better to have separate reservoirs - especially with the sensitive anti-lock brake mechanisms and tiny passageways. With the split setup on the Camaro I can easily keep the Clutch circuit or brake circuit flushed as needed depending on which needs attention. Real easy to completely flush all fluid in the clutch master and slave keeping that fluid new, particle and water free. The Corvette arrives from the factory with two reservoirs.
