TAP Dimension for oil send unit???

looking at the plethora of gauges, ect. you can buy for yer mini ---- one thing that seems to be constant for me so far ---- somebody is wrrroonnng ---- on stating that tap in the head [or block..i cant see at this point but i removed the send unit and see the hole...] it AINT 3/8" npt as alot of aftermarket shiz states it is!!!
Anyone KNOW what size that %*!$@ is??? spent 20$ on various tees, nipples , ect.. to no avail [ and im fairly familiar with pipe/thread standards ]

Throw a dog a bone here pleez :P

DOH! im replying to this myself [i.e. i found out wth it is the hard way...] IF your the sad owner of a 2009 mini S [and any other 09 my guess...] the tap for the oil send unit is actually M16 x 1.5 [and i will stake my life and my pink slip on that one..] as such yer gonna have 1 hellofa time getting any fitting that will work here ---you arent gonna have any luck trying to buy an oil filter adapter that will work either [be it that biscuit plate which wont even fit OR the radiator that has adapter plate ==there just isnt enuff room to run the lines plus and adapter up to the top ..] At this point there is only 1 solution [unless somebody comes by here and tells you otherwise and my guess it will involve a very expensive and extremely over priced rip-off fitting..] buy yourself a M16 x 1.5 tap / a 3/8" npt tap and a M16 x 1.5 die !!! -- then whatever gauge set you purchased find a way to rethread said pieces to fit the M16 x1.5 thread that is in the head where the oil send unit is/or was if u get yer gauge setup..located.

Have you checked out the Cravenspeed website?

Yours is 2009 so N14 engine so I think they have a solution for you. (Won't work for me cuz I have the N18.)

We do offer oil filter housing adapters for both the N14 and N18 engines. I assume, since we are the only ones who make them, I must be be rip-off artist in this case. I understand that, $50-$75 is a lot for a hunk of metal, but it would save you from buying all those taps, dies and materials...

Kellen, how about updating the website with pics and install instructions for the N18 oil pressure adapter?

im not going to call you a rip-off artist sir ---- working in industry , healthcare, construction, music biz ive become familiar with costs, production expense , marketing , bla bla bla ---- i can make an objective observation though --- capitalism has gone totally off the F'n deep end and what used to be a profit has turned into insatiable greed . You can define/term those that do so however you like.. profiteers is a more accurate term i suppose --- If i had a million dollars i wouldnt even care would i? ah maybe so, who knows... but for a guy who's disabled , has no other income or family, friends ... most of what happened in recent years seems to be orchestrated. Cars that cant be modified w/o buying expensive adapters , cars engineered to literally break down or only be repaired by the corporation ---ect--ect . A person can either smile about it and keep the trend accelerating OR voice their opinion and try to find options to do otherwise..
ps: another interesting note --- im amazed at the % of product reps that reply to these questions as opposed to those who may have figured out another way to overcome said problem... but thats a nice product web page! lots of nifty adapters u guys have!!

PS: the tap cost 6 dollars , the die cost 5 ,the hex aluminum im using is from another website who said they had the right adapter and didnt---- i figured it was cheaper to spend 11 dolars than to go spend another 50-75$ for another adapter but its probably due to my cynical nature instead...
