2003 Mini Base problem

When my wife tried to start the Mini today it would not. No click. But the battery appears to be fine. All the dashboard lights come on. Headlights work. Fan works.

Oddly the driver's window works while the passenger window does not.

Any ideas?

You need to load test the battery, it might be weak. Then check the cables going to then starter and the battery for corrosion or a bad connection.

The battery is perhaps the most important electrical component on the car, and due to its design and nature, is perhaps one of the most troublesome. Before doing anything drastic like replacing your starter or looking at your fuel injection ECU, you should make sure that your battery is in good condition. A normal battery should read a voltage slightly above 12 volts with the car sitting still, and no electrical devices on. A typical reading would be in the 12.6-volt range when the battery is fully charged. If the reading is 12 volts or less, then the battery needs charging or needs to be replaced with a new one. Check grounds as well. Here is a DIY for the replacement and it provides more information, including the information I just shared.

Thanks for the update, make sure you clean the contacts on the cable before you reinstall the stater. And remember which cable goes where so you don't cross them up. Take a picture with your phone before you replace it, helps in the end.
