Hello !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everybody

I finally got my MINI 3 days ago. Sorry for the lateness as I was too busy motoring 200 miles so far and showing off to everyone. The car is absolutely beautiful with the whole Aero Kit and Wheel Arches all painted body color and I can't wait to post pictures. It is everything everyone says it is and more

I could ramble on about the driving experience but you fellow owners know how I feel and as for you future owners it will be more amazing than you think. You're an instant star in this car. I have seen what has been described by others. That "stop everything and stare at the MINI" look, or the "what the f*** is that" being mouthed, and even cars zooming by me on the freeway then slamming the breaks to follow my MINI I love it Did I say that already

Congrats!
These cars are addictive.

Maybe I'll see you around Motown. I'll be the other guy with the perma-grin, in a Cosmos Black MC.

I finally have got pictures.

Sorry they're kind of dull because of the weather, but the Indi Blue is beautiful. My camera is kind of crappy and if I waited for a sunny day, you would have to wait a long time

Check out the Members Gallery pages 90 & 91 for all of the pictures so far.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Yours is the first IB MCS that I have seen anywhere. It looks fantastic. Mine is on the boat, and is just like yours, minus the body kit. Congrats, and thanks for the photos!

>>I have to say the runflat tire saved my butt because I happened to be in a bad part of Detroit at the time.

Letsmotor, do you live in the Detroit area? I picked up my MCS from Motor City MINI on Tuesday! 300 miles so far and loving it!

My experience with "gawkers" has been much the same as yours. People stop and get out of their cars to look wherever it's parked. All the kids look as they pass (or are more often passed!) on the road. I've been back and forth to the parking lot about 5 times a day at work for a "show and tell".

I have to pass thru a guarded gate at work.....everytime I go thru, the guards let the traffic behind back up as they drool on the car!

What's the 411 on the event? Is it only for people who've taken delivery from Motor City MINI? I got Felicity Kendall in sunny Charleston, SC - while on a business trip.

Advantage: I got the "supercharged" decal months before I even took delivery anticipating my MCS. I think I got it at NOPI.com. (P.S. your caps lock is on and people will think you're screaming

Not sure exactly. It's an all day 10am to 3pm event, takes place at the dealship and the card I got says invite only.
The fact that it is all day at the dealership leads me to believe it's basically going to be an openhouse with snacks.
All I know is...
There will be MINIs, there will be food so I will be there at some point.

Lobo

P.S. Congrats, nice looking ride "letsmotor".

Hi All,

So who went to the Motor City MINI shindig on Saturday? How was it?

I wanted to go, but had prior committment to drive out to Kalamazoo for the WMU football game and my daughter participated in "Band Day".

My wife, daughter and myself loaded up the MINI and left Friday evening. Discovered quickly on I-69 that freeway motoring is not the MINI's forte! It does not like concrete freeway with expansion strips..... That aside, the car ran great and was great fun to drive on the hilly roads around Kalamazoo.

The MINI caused quite a stir on the WMU campus. The college kids love it and are very knowledgable about what it is... Much better questions from them than from the average adult population.

Coming back last night, I was really PO's to find SNOW coming down quite heavily just past Flint. The MINI took it stride....I can't believe how well this car handles!

Luckily, no salt...but this was too close for comfort! Washed/waxed it today and pulled it into the garage....probably stay there for the winter.

Let us know how the Motor City MINI event turned out!

Thanks,

Satchmo

The MCM thing was cool. I didn't stick around long but had fun. Lot's of "old school" minis and free food...

So, how do plan on going a whole winter without driving the MINI? Do you have some sort of superhuman will power or something?

Lobo

I plan on driving it in the snow at least once if not more. I'll probably wait until late night or early morning before the salt trucks get a hold of the roads. The snow can't be too deep either because the MINI rides so low. Plus I've got the performance tyres. Go to an empty parking lot and just go crazy. Test the DSC and Antilock brakes so you know what to expect in a real emergency. Otherwise it will stay warm in the garage most of the time. That's why I must get past the break in period fast so I can really start to have fun with the MINI before winter hits.

I'm not sure if I can pull it off! Now I'm thinking "If it rains and washes off the salt, then dries up, maybe I can get out and motor some more!!!!"

Thing is, I want to keep this car until I croak! So, I don't want to drive it on the salted roads.

I do like letsmotors idea of taking it out in the snow once....before the salt trucks come out, just to try it and do some donuts!!!!!
