Title pretty much says it all. Can anyone help me figure out why the turbo inlet pipe won't stay in place? Car is a 2011 so it is an N18 with the plastic tube and rubber adapter on the turbo side. I can take the tube off, clean the tube and the rubber adapter, tighten the tube back and 5 miles down the road it will have slipped off again. For a while I thought it was the Alta intake having alignment issues, but now I have the stock intake back on the car and it is still coming loose! Help! It's starting to drive me nuts!

 

is the clamp getting tight enough or is it stripped? try some hear spray on the tube and than clamp it down

 

i actually tightened the clamp to the point of breaking it in frustration a few days ago. I replaced it with a new, thicker clamp and still it slides off. I did not, however, think to try hairspray. I may just have to give that a shot.

 

ya or any tacky spray used for holding gaskets in place it's worth a shot make sure you use some brakleen or something to make sure there is no oil on either mating surfaces and make sure they are nice and dry

 

I had a similar problem but on the other end of the intake system (custom fabricated but similar situation) and I used double sided molding tape (3M) on the inside. My frustrating problem disappeared. It's caused by normal engine vibration & no amount of clamp tightening will cure this.

Do you think maybe the BSH motor mount is affecting it? there's less movement with it but a lot more vibration. I am getting an OEM mount tomorrow because I am trying to sell the car. Maybe that along with the hairspray trick will help.

 

t bolt clamps are the best I use them where I can they are pricey but they can be tightened a lot ! just don't crush whatever your tightening lol it might help a bit but I use the same mount and never had this issue
