Anyone try Pentosin motor oil?

Seeing as our Mini's use Pentosin's CHF 11s power steering fluid, I'm curious about their motor oil. They sell it at O'Reiley's - Full Synthetic, 5w-4 & 5w-30 weights, made in Germany. Sounds pretty good to me?

Why step into the unknown when there are so many tried and true oils? Or you could be a pioneer at heart.

It meets the BMW-LL standard (not many can do that), and appears to be full synthetic (again, not many in the USA are really "full").

So, why not go for it? I do have to say that they have a leg up on Amsoil (what I use exclusively) as the Pentosin has 5W-30 and 5W-40 available.

The oil discussion is always on going and almost religious in nature, but since this meets the spec, I see no reason not to give it a go.

The High Performance 5W30 looks good: LL-01 and A3/B4 certified
http://www.pentosin.net/specsheets/P...ance_5W-30.pdf

The 5W40 HP looks a little thicker than I'd like to run, and the 5W-30 Super Performance
doesn't meet the exact MINI specs.

<strike>Isn't the BMW LL-04 higher than BMW LL-01?</strike>
****EDIT: NOPE it's a different beast: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pdfs/BMW-O...s-and-Recs.pdf ****

I hear you about the 5W-40. In my case I spoke directly with the manufacturer that I use (Amsoil) and got email proof that their pour-point was within acceptable limits for my running environment (Canada).
I hear what you're saying though!

Whatever the case, there is that one version of 5W-30 from Pentosin that suits the bill.

My "go to" source for oil info is always Bob Is the Oil Guy, lots of good info.

Here's a link to get you started, looks like they've been discussing this product since 2007 or so:
