So a few months ago I replaced a leaky tensioner bolt and since then all has been great as far as no leaking. However, the dreaded idea that my chain is just slapping around inside is taking a toll on me.

I am looking for a local individual and or shop in the Valley/ LA area to help perform this service. I have the timing kit but the Dealer wants nearly $1600 still in labor and the cheapest shop I've found is around $1000. If anyone knows of a shop in the area who has cheaper prices please let me know. Also if you are just simply an individual with some free time who is knowledgable on this service and has performed one before I'd be willing to work out a deal to have you help me in performing the service.

Make sure its someone who knows BMW's or Know MINI specifically otherwise you might have issues down the road or you might be there first test vehicle.

Motoring Magic isn't to far, I think there's a Miniworx in LA. You should first get your timing chain slack measured so you know where timing chain life is at. Doing this job yourself requires special tools to lock the crankshaft and cams. I'm a DIY guy and wouldn't consider doing the job myself. I would definitely consider doing this on any other car accept a Mini! Of all the Japanese cars I've ever owned the cam gears are keyed into the cams and have easy marking on them for proper alignment of the crankshaft and cams.
