Does your MINI do this (seat belt warning light question)?

Hi - I have a 2003 MC-S. I think it is early enough not to have the occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat.

My daughter noticed that the seat belt warning light is on if I start the car before buckling my seatbelt (driver front side), as I think it should.

However, if there is a passenger in the front seat and front passenger seat belt is not buckled when the car is started, the warning light does not light up. Is that the way it is supposed to work?

Thanks,

David

If there is no sensor to tell when the seat is being used, then yes, it shouldn't light up.
