m2c2 Annual Meeting

Hear ye, hear ye:

In accordance with our bylaws, the time has come for our Annual Meeting. Said meeting is to discuss club business and hold elections of officers for the upcoming year. At least that’s the official small print lawyer reason, but we’re planning on having a 2 day wingding! Some fun stuff – then the meeting – then more fun stuff.

The Fun Stuff starts on Friday the 27th at 2:30 pm. We will meet at the BMW Zentrum off of I-85 in Greer for a tour of the facility. Each tour will hold 20 people and the cost is $5.00 per person. The tours will start at 3:00 pm. If we have enough interest they will also cater a dinner for us inside the museum, the cost for the dinner will be $20.00 per person. They will be parking us on the grass to accommodate photos and a group picture. We must have an accurate head count, so that we can let them know.

The official meeting will be held at the Century MINI Dealership, in Greeneville, SC.
Date: Saturday August 28th
Time: 11:00 am. You are welcome to arrive early for refreshments provided by Century MINI. They will also have their Service Advisor and 2 MINI Technicians available to speak with us before and after the meeting. We have also been advised that the parts department will have some giveaways for us, (free stuff)!

Then More Fun Stuff:
After the meeting, we plan to combine a drive into the Hill Country and show support for a Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) Benefit for those that desire.

Route: Start point - Century MINI and drive up 178 through Rosman and then up 215 to the Parkway. Depending on time we will either follow the BRP to 276, or continue off the BRP down 215 to 276 and head south back up to the parkway.

From here, those that will be attending the BRP Benefit will enjoy a dinner meal at the Medford Family Hunting Camp on the East Fork of the Pigeon River, adjacent to the Shining Rock Wilderness Area, and Graveyard Fields. This is just off the Parkway near the Cold Mountain Overlook between Waynesville and Brevard. We should arrive at the benefit around 4 or 4:30 pm. There is a maximum number of MINIs allowed (approximately 15) so registration is a must for the benefit. Cost for the benefit, including dinner, is $65 with $45 being tax deductible.

Those not attending can either head into Asheville to pick up major interstates to all parts of the world, or back track down the mountain into SC.

Houck from the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation will be posting some updated info about the benefit at the following link BRP Benefit Info

If you need hotel accommodations we have secured the Wingate Inn off Pelham Rd in Greenville. When you call mention the group MINI and your rate will be $59.00. The price will be for both Friday and Saturday night, if needed. Wingate Inn Greenville

With the exception of the BRP drive, these events are for m2c2 members only, so now would be the perfect time to join and lend a hand in making this club how you want it to be. Those interested in becoming Officers or Chapter VP’s please contact any of the officers listed on our club website: m2c2

RSVP here or at chris@m2c2.org with information on which, if not all, events you will be attending. BRP Benefit RSVP’s can be made at foundation@brpfoundation.org

Look forward to seeing everyone and those new members.

Right now it looks like I'll be able to make the meeting Sat morning and the drive afterwards. I'll have to forego the plant tour and BRP event.

Ok, Definitely the meeting on Saturday . Possibly the plant tour on Friday (Even though I've been inside there dozens on times) , probably the drive after the meeting , but do we have to go up 276 through Greenville , and I'm still paying off the last dinner, so I'll have to pass on it this time..

And 1MiniGrl, you're gonna have to take a break from housework sometime!!

It's not the housework, it's the expenses leading up to buying a house to have the housework! That's what kinda has me grounded for now. Stupid banks! I'm probably going to at least do the August 8 drive. I'll see how the fundage comes along and I may be able to at least make Saturday; however, this will be a last minute decision! I'm hoping that I can make at least the Saturday portion. Just put me down as a tentative person coming along!

I will definitely be at the annual meeting and taking part in the drive and BRP Benefit.

Kevin

8/20 Update... I'll be able to attend the tour after all but won't attend the dinner that evening. If anyone from the Asheville area is heading down and wants to travel down together, let me know.

Go on and put me tentatively down for the meeting on saturday and the drive. As the date gets closer I'll have a more definite answer. Also is there an address that I can map quest to Century MINI, or will directions be posted?

I will not be attending the events on Friday nor will I be doing the BRP Foundation dinner.

Will I actually get my membership card then?

"Also is there an address that I can map quest to Century MINI, or will directions be posted?"

Century MINI
2752 Laurens Road
Greenville, SC 29607

That's exit 48 -- Laurens Road north -- off I-85. As soon as you get off the interstate, get into the left-hand lane and look for the MINI/BMW sign, which is just beyond an Exxon station. If you need more explicit directions, just let us know.

"Will I actually get my membership card then? "

Well, after this prompt maybe mininc will get it to you before that!

Glad you're planning to be there.

Ok, let the local give you directions....

To answer your question, YES!

Actually the directions are the same whether you're going northbound or southbound on I-85, take exit 48-B, Laurens Rd (Hwy 276) North towards Greenville, get in the left hand lane ASAP..

Century MINI is on the LEFT immediately after you go through the first traffic light.

Anything after the drive - can't do it

See you all there, and hopefully then I'll be able to see Ed and get my membership card............... FINALLY!

About how long of a drive is it from Raleigh to Greenville? I need to figure this out for time allotments to drive there. I may be bringing my mother with me for the meeting as well, so she can actually sit through her first MINI Run!

Oh since I did get a nice raise this past week, I will be definitely be down for the meeting on Saturday and the drive following! WOO HOO!!!

Raleigh NC Motor to Greenville

Any Raleigh-Durham-Triangle people want to motor down to Greenville on Saturday if you are going to be heading down then? If so, just drop me a line and we can meet somewhere and motor down!

I'll be heading down on Saturday morning. Maybe we can plan a meeting place around Charlotte and caravan down with some of the Charlotte people. Exits 32 or 33 look well positioned to do this. If we meetup about 9am it should give us time to get there with no problem.

Anyone think this might be a plan?

Wow, this means getting up seriously early! No partying that night! Sounds like a plan for me Bob! Anyone else up for an early morning drive?? Don't forget the sunscreen! Oh wait, that's for me!

Hate to do the early thing myself! But it's a necessesary evil to be down there before 11am. I'll have to leave here about 6:30 or 6:45 to be on time.

Yup, understand the 6:30 thing. I'll have to leave a little earlier than that! No biggie...Friday night going out, is gone for this...getting up at 5:00 sucks!!! Oh well, as of right now, I'll be there probably drinking coffee! I'll plan on meeting you about 9:00 in Charlotte and I guess we'll figure out an exit when it gets closer! I'm still trying to swindle my mom into going!

It depends if your seat has jammed in the "all the way forward" position or not.. At great risk, I've done it in 2 hrs 45 mins.. Average time is about 3 1/2 hours from RDU to Century MINI, 265 miles. (1 hr to Greensboro, 1 1/2 hr. to Charlotte, 1 hr to Century MINI, depending on traffic)

You could always motor down the night before so you don't have to get up quite as early!

More meeting news

I stopped by Century MINI this afternoon and chatted with Max Shaffer, the new MINI manager, Motoring Advisor Henk Van Dyk and Mike Barrett, MINI’s Field Marketing Manager for the Southeast. It was great to meet Max and talking to Henk was, as always, a pleasure. Mike Barrett was full of great MINI stories and useful information.

He also had a BRG cabriolet there for a few hours, but that’s another story. Eat your hearts out; it’s beautiful!

Mike asked that m2c2 add his name to the list of MINI folks attending the club’s annual meeting, and a welcome addition he is. He is quite knowledgeable about all things MINI; he’s no doubt forgotten more about MINIs that the rest of us will ever know. And he’s willing to share that knowledge.

He’s also bringing a special treat to add to the treats that others (including Century and the club) will be supplying; This one will be especially useful for those MINI drivers who travel in their cars. I also confirmed that Century MINI service advisor Jim Pickett and Century’s great MINI techs, Lee Watson and Brent Prevatte will be attending, so come armed with questions.

Join m2c2 now and plan to be there.

Please add Keith and I for the tour, drive and maybe dinner. I've pm'd Chris on that one

We'll be at the annual meeting as well.

I've got to add also, that the folks at Century Mini and this includes my service advisor Jim have done such a wonderful job. I've taken the 100 plus mile hike down there several times for service/repairs and they have done an outstanding job. I have lived in several states and have used many BMW dealers around the SE and Century for service/repairs is by far the BEST! I've used them since 1997 and I have never had a complaint.
