Coilovers vs. Lowering Springs

Alright guys,

So i really would rather have coilovers no doubt. And I've seen my coworker buy them for his BMW and my friend bought em for his VW. Both got them for $500. Now i understand yoy get what you pay for but I've been looking on ECStuning and Andys but all i see are coilovers for over $1000+. There has to be more good quality coilovers for a cheaper price right? How are BMW coilovers (newer year) more expensive than my '05 R50? If you guys know of a site or place, post here please (: thank you NAM peeps!

I've never seen coilovers less than $1,000 for any make of car. Your friends and coworkers aren't being truthful about what they installed on their cars or how much they paid.
Frankly, I think coilovers on a street car are overkill. They are way too stiff. A good set of lowering springs with matched shocks give you a huge improvement in handling without bruising your kidneys.

+1 to what Mr. Bean said. If you need more than 2 degrees neg. camber, coilovers will do it. But on a street car, why bother?

I was thinking about getting some coilovers a while ago. The more I looked into them, the more I realized that in order to get some that would give a decent ride and not beat you to death on the street....you needed to stay away from the cheap ones ($700), and get into the $2000+ range ones. Everyone I found that had the cheap Megans or other brands hated them for street driving....they were just way to rough.

For a daily driver......it's not worth all the extra money if you just want to set your car a little lower. For a race car....sure, spend the extra money on good coilovers

But if you want some cheap ones....here they are http://www.waymotorworks.com/megan-r...coilovers.html
