Who in the bay area LOVES diagnosing airbag issues?

2006 MCS w/ intermittent airbag warning light. BMW of SF wants $270 just to diagnose the issue. If it is covered under the service bulletin, it will be reimbursed but if it's something else (i.e., not the passenger seat sensor), then I'll be charged the 270 + repairs, which I would like to avoid. If someone has the tools to scan it, pull the code & help me narrow down where it's coming from, I'll buy you beers.

Does the overhead passenger airbag light turn on?

Which service bulletin are you referring to? I had a 2006 and wasn't aware of any airbag bulletins that applied to it.

Yup, overhead passenger airbag light turns on as well. This is the TSB in referring to:

They'd cover it? That would be great, because it isn't typical.

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/17/c...vice-bulletin/ ("a TSB repair is usually only covered if your vehicle is still under a factory warranty")

A lot of people have had the sensor mat failure and were told $1000+ repair quotes.

I have a B2000 airbag code reader/reset tool that I've used on my 2003 MCS. It's not a high end code reader, but it gets the job done.

I don't know much about tracking down airbag circuit problems, but I'd be willing to loan you my reader. PM me if you'd like to borrow it.

Alternately, you can buy a B200 online for about $25.
