New HPFP under extended warranty at 67K miles
New HPFP under extended warranty at 67K miles
Just got mine done under MINI's extended 10 year / 120K mile warranty.
67K miles on '08 MCS.
After rough running at WOT last fall (never tripped check engine light, blamed it on poor aftermarket coding), and occasional cold start rough idle through the winter, I finally collected a P2880 (High Press System Min) check engine light code the other day.
Took the car to the dealer this morning, promised to pay $150 diag fee if I was wrong, and got the HPFP verdict confirmed in under 15 minutes. Replacement installed in under 90 minutes from dealership entry to exit.
It's not a code that was frequently cited as HPFP failure indicator, so I'm posting this in case someone searches for P2880 in the future.
a
P.S.: Dealer techs alerted me that the car wanted new plugs as part of 60K service. We all had a good laugh when I told them I got new plugs with new N14 engine last year (long story, archived).
P.P.S.: My brake sensors are looped around strut towers not to interfere with seasonal autoX brake pad swaps. They offered to replace them for $225... ;-)

Thank you for this informative post. I'm sure my 70k mile 2010 will eventually take advantage of this extended warranty. I've pretty much hit every other problem with the N14 that you can including timing chain tensioner bolt backing out and turbo oil feed line leak. BTW, my brake sensors are conveniently tucked away as well.
