Wideband O2 Sensor Install....does exhaust have to be removed?

I finally broke down and bought an Innovative Motorsports MTX-L AFR Gauge and Wideband O2 sensor kit so I can monitor my AFR's (Air/Fuel Ratios).

I'm assuming lots of other Mini owners have installed these things. I'm wondering if someone can tell me if I have to pull the header/exhaust off of the motor in order to have a shop weld the new O2 sensor bung into the exhaust pipe.....or is there enough room under there that a good muffler shop can drill the pipe and weld in the bung without having to remove the exhaust?

Thanks!

there is some room so you don't have to remove it. Im sure its also better to leave it on so you know there that wide band can actually fit. but not all headers are the same. just would have to make sure the metal chips from drilling don't get stuck in the exhaust, could damage the cat, and if you don't have one.... who cares, they'll get blown out
