Suspension Looking for a lightweight rim suggestion
SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
SO I am buying some new rims while ditching the S-Lites to go along with my new Pilot Sports. So far I have a found a good price on some Hyper Black Motegi SP10s, but I was wondering if anyone one has some suggestions. I also like the R114 JCW rims and they are lighter than the SP10s (about .3 lbs lighter 16.8 vs 16.5). Thanks, and I am looking to spend around $500-600 on the rims.
Enkei Racing PF01 or RPF01 would be lighter (14# or 13.7#) and stronger (MAT technology casting)
than the SP10s or the Sparco A. Garas, but a bit pricier, about $1K for a set of 4.
I have OZ ultra leggeras, they are really light, the enkei are nice as well. the sparcos are the cheapest price that you are looking for. you wont notice a difference of .3 lbs per wheels. you will definently notice the near 10lbs. I have a very noticeable difference going from my winter wheels (slites) to my ultra leggeras for the warmer months

I would doubt the OEM wheels are that light. Where are you seeing 16.8lbs?
We had the motegis SP10s for a while. They're a solid wheel and we had no real complaints. They're cheap and fairly light. You'll need "tuner" lugs or bolts though because the holes the lug nuts/bolts sit into are really small.

If you believe everything you read on the interwebs then THIS would be one source that would corroborate the 16.8. And actually this is showing even less weight!

Ahh that is showing the R114 as a 17x5.5. Awfully narrow wheel. The SP10s you're looking at are probably 17x7. most of the 17x7" OEM mini wheels are in the low 20lb range.
