New CMS All4 owner / list of options?

Hello all!

I have been absent for a while and even when I was here before I was not real active as you can see by my post count. I usually read a lot and learned from those who were experienced. I piped up a few times.

I just purchased a '14 CMS All4 with 15,000 miles on it. I am happy to be back in a Mini since I sold my '06 R53 a little more than a year ago. That unit was loaded! It had many more options than this CMS has.

I want to explore are an upgrade to the sound system. We had the HK in the R53 and now have the (yawn) base radio in the CMS. Also, the CMS does not have heated seats or HID lighting like the R53.

I have already sifted through 12 pages of the R60 threads just learning what I can.

One question: is there a way to use a VIN to get a list of options/packages that are on my CMS?

Another fellow PA native here!

This might be a silly question but why did you spend thousands of dollars on a Countryman without the options you wanted?

Great question. Actually, it was a spur of the moment decision. We found it at a dealer and had not set out that morning to buy a car; it just happened. HA!

It did meet much of what we wanted, S, All4, and the price was great. Plus, the dealer took a trade and gave us much more than I had anticipated. Done. Honestly, the options I miss are not deal breakers. The stock headlights are actually pretty good and the stereo will do fine for now. Like the R53, I am sure I'll learn a lot of things that I want to do to it in time.

Thanks for checking out my post!
