Can the Union Jack License Plate Frame be installed upside down?
I bought a pair of Union Jack license plate frames for my F56. When installed as shown in the attached picture, they block part of the name of the state.
I'm thinking I could install the frames upside down so the Union Jack is at the top and the state name is completely visible.
Am I breaking any conventions by doing this?

Depends...
I'm guessing that the design of the license plate frame isn't very accurate, so it probably wouldn't matter, but related to a flag...
From Wikipedia:
While the flag appears symmetric, the white lines above and below the diagonal red are different widths. On the side closer to the flagpole (or on the left when depicted on paper), the white lines above the diagonals are wider; on the side farther from the flagpole (or on the right when depicted on paper), the converse is true. Thus, no change will be apparent when rotating the flag 180 degrees, but if mirrored the flag will be upside-down.
Placing the flag upside down is considered lèse majesté and is offensive to some,[7][8] However, it can be flown upside down as a distress signal. While this is rare, it was used by groups under siege during the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boer_War and during campaigns in India in the late 18th century.

If you rotate the whole frame by 180 degrees, the Union Flag is still be being 'flown' the correct way up (thicker white diagonal on top left), so there is no chance the British Army will invade your home town in order to avenge such an appalling insult.
We Brits are very touchy about our flag being flown upside-down - an offence even greater than serving beer cooled.
