Oil Recirculation pump?

Okay, I used to drive VW turbodiesels. From way back. One of the habits that was recommended on the turbo cars (and I understood, even more recommended for turbocharged gas cars) was to idle for a minute or so before shutting the car down, to allow the turbo to cool off.

At some point there was a device out there that plumbed into the oil feed circuit of the turbo that circulated oil through the turbo bearings after shutdown to keep them from cooking the oil.

My S-Countryman is my first gas turbo vehicle. I've not read anywhere, including the manual that it's necessary or recommended to spool down the turbo. Fortunately I have about a .9 mile mostly downhill run to the house, so I can either loaf in that distance, or even coast. It's similar at work. So, I just drive in, park, shut 'er off, and Bob's yer uncle.

SWMBO is out of town. So, for the first time, I've got the MINI in the garage. So...I notice this quiet, medium frequency buzz after I shut the car down. This is in the front, not the noise the fuel pump makes in the back. I popped the hood, and sho 'nuff, it sounds like it's coming from the vicinity of the turbo. So my (long-winded) question is: Does the S-CTM have an oil recirculation pump? If not, whut izzit I'm hearing?

It's a coolant pump for the turbo and the head.

That said, if my oil temps are high, I run the car until theyb are within 10 degrees of each other. ( using a scangauge)

Auxiliary electric water pump that is designed to cool down the turbo after the car has been shut off.

Perfectly normal
