Offset/width Q
Offset/width Q
Hello all!
Im looking at wheels for an f56 and before all of you with gen 1 or gen 2 minis get up and leave, hear me out. I know my existing specs of my wheels and I know the specs of the ones that I'm looking at and plugged it into one of those wheel fitment calculators. I attached the pic below.
Don't mind the tires and I know the new wheel pokes out a little bit more but they "fit". My main concern is this: will the 20mm offset difference have an effect on the wheel bearings / suspension or does it not matter that much because the width compensates for most of it?! I don't mind a little pre-mature wear but I don't want total failure in 10k miles. Please share your wisdom and input
I'm here for a lesson.
Thanks guys and gals!

I wouldn't worry too much about bearing wear. You should check your fitment specs as to the amount of "poke" as 31.7mm is a healthy stretch. When I had my R53 I ran 220/45/17 [Cadillac spec] with 20mm spacers. The wheel goes up and down and yaws left and right and if you really drive it you can make these little cars lean and corner on 2 wheels. Follow me on this: 220 [on car] minus 205 [original size] - 15mm cut in half [no inside fitment problems] =7.5 plus 20mm spacer for 27.5mm. I rubbed. My solution was to cut the plastic wheel housings. you will RUB! Car will handle better with wider stance and will look GREAT! Get out the cutters and go for it.
