Valve cover gasket replacement

Two questions:

First, I have an 07 MINI Cooper S and am trying to find the right gasket to replace mine with. Everywhere I look stocks two different gaskets which look a bit different and cost about $10 different also. Anyone replace a gasket on an 07 know which one my car would actually need?

Second, anyone have a good DIY for this jobb? I have seen a few on replacing the valve cover that were ok, but hoping someone has a good DIY specifically on this job, or a video if I am super lucky.

Thanks in advance.

2007 had the R52 (convertable) engine: W11B16A, the last of the Supercharged S and the first of the Turbos the N14B16A engine.

So the two different head gaskets will most likely be because of that...

Pulse for each model the gasket is offered in two thickness Standard and +0.3mm.

I'll let someone else recommend which one to use. (I would use the +0.3mm gasket if you have had your head surfaced)

'07 was a cross over year for R56 (hardtop) vs. R52 (convertible).
Make sure to order from a knowledgeable supplier (e.g.: ecstuning.com, detroittuned.com , waymotorworks.com), and call them to double check that you are getting the right part.

This is almost a too simple of a job to justify DIY instructions.
If you have a Bentley manual, use it for reference. If not, get it - you will eventually need it anyway.

Otherwise, from memory:
- unplug 2 PCV hoses
- unplug/remove spark plug coils, and other wires clipped to the cover
- unbolt (12?) 10 mm bolts around the perimeter and the center of the cover
- lift up and smile

Second time around should take you ~15 mins.

Yep , 07 was a cross over year , end of the R52 and beginning of the R56 .

" 07 MINI Cooper S " is it a hardtop or a convertible, that will narrow it down.
