I'm seeing 226* with runs into 230* sometimes with an ambient temp of 50-60* at 70mph cruising

My 2012 justa reads 220F. Air temp can be hot (100) or cold (60). These motors are designed to run hot but 230 is bordering on too hot.

That's what I thought, but I just spent a small fortune on the cooling system

Our cars are designed to run hot, because high operating temperature helps with emissions. 230F is not bad.

Mine never ran that hot until the work that was done, they must have reprogrammed the ecu to the newest program like yours

My 09 FJCW is currently in the shop (5 days now), due to a melted Valve Cover (just behind the turbo), 2 days after a spark plug and engine coolant service (including a new thermostat, due to leaking), trying to find out what caused it. I did notice that the car was now running around 230 to 237 in normal driving, when it was running around 210 - 218 prior to the service. I would temporarily see temps of 230, but only when romping on it for extended periods (all measured by a scangauge2). I'm hoping they can find the cause, because I've dropped $2000 (out of my pocket) in repairs just this last month (Luckily Mini covered the new turbo).
I wish you a quick resolve.

Also, I was told that only 240 and above was considered too hot.

I haven't seen 240*, high was 232* for a few seconds. But after a real hard run under boost for long time, the temps dropped down to 210* for a moment, ,I thought I read that under hard running the ecu will throw open the thermostat. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow, but I think there is nothing wrong.

But the big picture is , it didn't run that hot before the work was done. 291*- 221* was the norm . My original 2009 program versus ( the new maybe)2013 program diffs? I hope to find out and will report back.

The low speed fan is supposed to come on at 108C (226F) and the high speed fan should come on at 113C (235F). I'd only worry if it went past 235F. The DME is supposed to open the thermostat under load and cool to 90C (195F). If you turn on the A/C to high cool and high speed fan it should cool to 90C. At least my 2011 S and 2012 S did.

the tech at the dealer said the thermostat and temps are OK, the thermostats were changed over the years to address problems and that is where the difference's are. There was no reprogram done
