An adjustable timing block set to help get your timing set correctly.
After torquing the cam bolts using regular timing blocks, the chain will spring back a bit moving your settings.To use these, mark the original setting, then tighten down the cams using the old bolts, mark the new angle move the blocks to the opposite direction an equal amount, tighten with the new bolts you should be on spot within about a degree. check with a dial gauge on the spring caps before and after with a degree wheel on the crank pulley. On my 07 S I had the exhausts closing about 5 deg BTDC with About 195 deg of action,
on the intakes I had the intakes opening about 35 deg ATDC with again about 195 deg of action somewhere I think I found 193 listed for one of these. The Vanos moves my intakes to 33 after idling a bit and will advance the timing from here to where the ECU wants it. Use a hard wood like Maple for the center sections and be careful with the valve cover bolts you need them and the threads so tighten slowly until they hold, no need to go crazy. Post your settings because the official way is to use static timing blocks this bit of info is not in the manual.
