P0012 code after timing chain service

Hi guys, i just had the timing chain service done on my 2008 non-s cooper. When i picked the car up, eveything was fine, no check engine light and no more "diesel" sounding engine. I drove it home, 12 miles. The next day, i started it, let it warm up...after 6 mins or so, the car died. I started it, the engine light came back on. There is also a small ticking sound when the car gets to 700-800 rpm, ideling, that was never there before. I scanned it and got the P0012 code again. Shoudl i be worried? The garage said to bring it back so they can have a look. They mentioned that the ticking could be a valve, again..i have never heard this noise before.
Any thoughts guys

Since it was initially ok after the independent shop did the repair, and we assume they replaced ALL the parts done at the dealer, then could be one of the new bolts for a cam gear was not tightened down to spec. They are torqued almost the point of failure or snapping off. When under-tightened they will back out allowing gear to skip teeth on the timing chain.

Bolts # 9 below...

And critical and sometimes overlooked tool when planning a DIY/having an independent shop fix, is using a cam block kit like this one from www.Outmotoring.com to lock the cam down in position during this process.
