I've got copies from the old owner of all his dealer service records on the 07 MCS. On most service visits (but not all) there is a line item charge labeled SCOPE and is around $70 on each occurrence.

Can someone tell me what the SCOPE service is? Is it a charge to hook up the Mini Scan tool and pull info ?

That would be my guess. A flat fee for diag. Charges.

 

that's exactly what it is... had to ask myself at the dealer... and then ask a second time, as in: "really? for hooking it up to a computer?"

 

That's for using mouthwash after lunch before they talk to you.

 

The "scope" service was a check list associated with an oil service for various items. AND resetting service indicators Some used it is an opportunity to scan vehicle for faults but not do anything about them. Just to check if any existed and offered to the client if he wanted to address them further (at a fee of course)

Funny, At the dealer now (oil change), they added that "scope" line to my work order or reset my (timed) brake warning.
