Wheel Wax…Suggestions

I'm thinking about trying a new wheel wax on my black alloys. I've never used wheel wax before. In your experiences, does wheel wax make a difference? Are there any brands that you like more than others?

Any and all suggestions/opinions are welcome.

Someone else had a wheel waxing discussion going in here a few weeks ago. Wax was discouraged because as it is heated it softens and allows brake dust and other road detritus to adhere to it. I don't know about what you might be looking at if it is compounded to prevent that or not but a strong suggestion is to completely de-contaminate the wheels, give them a good coating of - believe it or not - Rain-X and then a coat of paint sealant like BlackFire Wet Diamond on the inside barrels and the front faces. Nuthin'll stick to that.

I used to have some stuff called Wheel Armour (iirc) from the folks at Prima. It worked really well. Not sure if it is still sold though.

I like Fly'n Brick's idea though and may give that a try.

Just don't use a normal wax.

Thanks for the feedback. I've read pretty good reviews about Wheel Armour and it's advertised as heat resistant too. I'm a big fan of everything-Prima. They never disappoint.

I put a coat of the 22PLE glass coating on my black alloys. It helped make them easier to clean and they looked good for a couple days after cleaning. Rain x is a good idea, I will try that. Maybe tonight.

I can't believe how dirty my black wheels get. I gotta try something. My silver wheels on my BMW don't get this dirty (brake dust) and I think the compounds are the same. I'll try the rainy x and polish idea. Ok so I guess 1 night this week my car will be high and dry with all the wheels off.
