Marina autocross petition.

Those from the bay area may be aware that the FAA is threatening to stop the use of Marina airport as an autocross venue. Marina is one of the few remaining autocross venues in the area. Without Marina most of the car clubs won't have anywhere to run. (The SCCA will still have Oakland for now, the Porsche club has Alameda.)

There's a petition been started to try to persuade the FAA to allow autocross to continue. This is being promoted by the SCCA's solo cheif, so I assume its a good idea.

Kyoo, did your area file a petition and if so what was the response beyond the end result?

Bt, years ago I was an active member of the EVSCC and loved solo (still do actually, but don't have the hardware to participate) and was also an active pilot. The two can live together believe it or not. Will your petition be available online? Though I'm not anywhere near the left coast I'd still like to do what I can to help y'all. Somebody once said 'Every vote counts'.

The petition is a great idea. I signed it. It at least gives FAA some data to support allowing the Auto-X to continue. I am sure the local FAA gets pressure to shutdown these types of activities at Airports. Do not give up.

I Auto-X at the Santa Maria Airport but it was shutdown for 10 years by the FAA after 9/11. It was Porsche coming in with money/clout and getting the FAA to allow Porsche to build a test track for the 2012 Carrera release that got the FAA to allow Auto-X again at the airport. There was also a Go-Kart track at the airport that was shutdown for many years and now has been allowed to reopen.

Gives a whole new and more positive meaning to the sometimes pejorative 'Porsche Pr1cks'. Good on 'em.
