Bittersweet...more bitter than sweet

Hello NAM,

It is with a heavy heart that I type this message today. See I sold my R56 S last week. And while I will miss it dearly I will not miss all the problems and heartache I have had over my (only) 2.5 year ownership. I did not even own my MINI 1 year and I was already replacing the thermostat housing and (the following weekend) water pump. Then it was the turbo oil supply/return lines, and so on and so on. The only joy the car brought me was (obviously) the drive and when I dropped thousands into it put mods on. I have never in my life owned a car as unique as the MINI. This goes for good and bad times. The ownership of my MINI solidifies my motto of "the only good European car is one under warranty". I do thank MINI/BMW for do the right thing and replacing the timing chain/tensioner set up.

MINI owners are some of the greatest people (the few) I have ever met. Very willing to help because well, most of you, and eventually all of you will have problems related to some poor designs. I joined 5280 MINI for one year to which I never was able to attend any meets, not one. My MINI always seemed to be under the knife. I gave up.

Two months ago I put my beloved Winnie up for sale. In that two months I had only had one bite on it which occurred last week. A great couple from up north (in another state) purchased it and freed me of my chains. Seeing my MINI drive off was one of the bigger weights ever lifted from my shoulders. The new owners said she was going to a good home. I hope they know that all the problems I had will come around again when the time is right, as we all know its a matter of when not a matter of if.

I found NAM to help me with the problems I encountered along the way. I wish I would have found NAM before my purchase. I would not be typing this lengthy message you have spend a minute or two reading.

Please take care and who knows, I might end up with another MINI someday, but you can bet your **** it will be brand new, with a warranty and most likely a lease, this will likely cause my username to be outdated...lol.

Sorry to see you go my friend. I know you've been having problems with her lately and remember you saying you were going to sell. I'm happy you found a buyer and hope you didn't lose too much on the deal.

Although we really enjoy our 13 MCS, it will be replaced BEFORE the warranty ends...
