Hey fellow mini friends

Has anyone here had to replace their power steering pump yet on an 08 mini?
Is it a hard fix? I've read about Mini Cooper extending the warranty on the pumps? Does anyone know if that it true?
I think my pump is whining. Is this a normal sound or sign of failure? Is it a fan or the pump ? New Mini owner here sorry to ask so many questions. i don't want to get rape by dealer I am planning on replacing it myself if needed

I take it you are in a R56? If so, there is no pump steering pump. It is all electric. What makes you think you are having power steering problems.

I call it PSP out of habit. I'm just going off what I have and a youtube video I saw. When I start the car it makes a whining sound. When I press the gas the sound increases, put in drive no change stays same. I know a little bit about cars but nothing about Mini's. This is my first one. It sounds electrical to me.
