Any DIY Turbo Removal?

Does anyone know where I can locate a DIY Guide to remove the turbo from an R56? Will be doing and upgrade soon and I have no luck finding instructions to remove this thing. I know the idea is probably simple but it is nice to have a set of instructions to refer to.

Thanks!

I did it during the engine swap, very straight forward.

There are 4 bolts holding the turbo to the exhaust manifold, but access to them is tight to impossible. It's easier to remove the 10 bolts holding the exhaust manifold to the engine, then unbolt the turbo off the manifold. You will also need to unbolt the 3 bolts holding the down pipe to the turbo.

All the bolts came off easily on my 6-year old 56K mile car.
I bought replacement bolts and gaskets anyway, but could have easily reused the original parts.

You will need to remove the air in- out-put hoses, a coolant hose or two, and oil coolant lines. This would be the perfect time to replace the oil cooling lines if you haven't already done so: http://www.detroittuned.com/mini-gen...l-line-kit-oe/

Cool makes sense.
Do you know if the front end has to be taken off or put into service mode to access the turbo? Or can it all be done without doing that.

There is away, but it's a bit tricky and requires a Special air tool that sells for about $1600. I have done the "Service Mode" and it is a big pain in that a$$.
I will let you know how my new way of removing the turbo.

You don't need to remove the nose.
No special tools required.
Radiator service mode buys you extra ~3" of space for the hands, so it helps a lot when it comes to removing/re-installing the turbo heat shields. Not necessary, but very helpful.

The heat shield on top of the turbo will come off without service mode. I think you can have enough clearance to remove downpipe off the turbo studs with lower shields in place. You can start as-is, without service mode, then pursue it if you need more room.

If you will be replacing the oil feed line, then you need to remove all the heat shields, and extra space from the service mode is a life-saver. You can do without it, but it will cost more time and suffering than the time it take to unbolt things to slide the nose forward that extra ~3".
