Need advice on strut tower shrooming fix
I'm going to be doing a suspension change on my 05 justa cooper . Ive been looking at my strut towers and I've noticed that they are starting to mushroom just a little (nothing bad) . I wanting to know if anyone has had any luck out of the upper strut tower plates like the m7 or vip ? And will they fix or pull the tower back down to normal? I would consider the under tower plates but I don't want to lose drop on my front suspension because I'm going with h&r sport lowering springs . Any feed back would be greatly appreciated .
They will not. You need some hi tech stuff to fix that, a short piece of 2 X 4 and a heavy hammer and a straight edge. Jack the front end up, lay the board over the strut bolts and pound the whey out of it 'till its level then install the plates. The proper torque for the nuts is 25#. I've got M7 plates and they are easy-peasy to install. Back off the nuts, put the plate in place and reset the nuts.
Cool , thanks . I didn't realize that I had posted the thread over and over . When I tried posting , it would give me a error . Oh well sorry for the over post.
I'll take your advice and buy some wood and a set of std's . Is the m7 better then the vip or craven speed? Is one thicker or stronger than the other?

You will need to hit it a bit if really bad, but the craven speed plates will actually pull it all together as you bolt it down and put the 25 ft lbs on the hardware. They are made so nice it's the only part we carry any more.

I made a samich out of the strut towers... i installed these (about 3 to 4 times thicker than stock) on the bottom: http://www.waymotorworks.com/ireland...5-r56-r57.html
and this on top: http://www.waymotorworks.com/m7-stru...5-r56-r57.html
I had a some mushrooming when I started, but this seems to have removed it when I cranked it down. The car drives great, holds alignment.
