Accident -- Airbags Deployed ??

So, I was in an accident yesterday in my 2014 CM. : ( Ugh. I'm really upset about this since I absolutely LOVE LOVE my car.

It was totally my fault. I looked down at the radio to change the station (or the volume...I can't even remember) and BAM...I slammed into the car in front of me. I've heard it all from friends/family about how "you need to learn to pay more attention when driving", etc, so, yeah..I get it that this was completely negligence on my part.

The damage to the front of my car was not that serious. Sure, things will need to be fixed/repaired, but, considering that the driver side airbag was deployed, I was surprised that things didn't look worse. Looks like I'll need a new bumper, possibly a new grille, and perhaps some tweaking of the bonnet (or new one since it didn't seem to fit quite right after it was opened).

However, I'm really concerned that this will never be able to be repaired back to "factory specs". I've even read online that once airbags have been deployed most cars are totaled out. Ugh.

Does anyone have any experience with CM repairs after deployment of airbags? Will the interior ever be the same? Will the car drive differently? The horn wouldn't turn off and it began making some weird noises toward the end. Is the electrical system shot?

Thanks for listening.

Air bag deployment does not mean the car is total. If there is frame damage that is not fix correctly, the car might have alignment issue. Most electrical problems can be fix.

Airbag deployment is more likely to total a vehicle because they're expensive, and new cars have 6 to 8 of them. The more airbags are deployed and the older the car gets (and consequently higher repair cost and lower value), the more likely it is to get totaled.
Based on your description it is likely not totaled, pictures would help.
I would insist on having the car fixed at a collision repair facility that specializes in high end cars or even preferably mostly BMW's and MINI's. If one of those is on the list of repair shops your insurance company partners with, great. If not, you have the right to select a repairer of your choice.
