Wrecked

Well I was in a car accident yesterday. My mini is pretty much totaled. Doesn't matter what happened. Im just glad everyone is ok and no body was hurt. I was going maybe 28mph, speed limit was 30, when the light turned red and I did not notice it doing so. I did hit my brakes but skidded into an SUV. Hardly any damage to the SUV they did have an air bad deploy. I do want to say that BMW makes an awesome vehicle. Even though the front was smashed to all hell the doors open and close just fine. I left two foot skid marks trying to stop but it was to late. I will post photo's later. Just bummed out right at the moment.

Im not sure what insurance companies do to allow you keeping your vehicle afterwards but I might just see if they will let me keep it and pay off what I owe on my loan which really isn't much then make it into a track car. Guess we will find out.

I was hit in the rear corner. It spun me around bent my rear suspension, deployed my side and seat airbag. Then I hit a semi with my front end. Smashed my hood and bumper. I got totaled. USAA gave me $8500. I bought it back for $1500. I had repairs done to drive by the weekend and done to register as salvaged by the end of the month. Still have not gone to Lai t but so far my repair has cost me $1000. Paint will cosy me $2000. No mater which way you go it is a pain in the but to repair or shop for a new car. Good luck. With so many parting out their cats I found it very easy to source the parts. Including airbags. You can buy an airbag scanner to clear your light after you replace the parts or pay to have it done.

Depending on what the company does, I will pay off the balance of my car, Buy a Mini Classic, use the R53 engine in that car. Then turn this car into a track car with my gf.

Thanks everyone for sending pm's and emails.

Thought Id give an update. I allowed the vehicle to be taken by my insurance company. I walked away with about 4K in my pocket and my gf and I have decided to build a classic mini and might use the R53 engine in that project. That one will be built as a stroker engine.
