2005 Cooper S JCW needs tire suggestions
Hi NAM,
2005 JCW Needs new tires.
So here's the deal, has Dunlop runflats, Worn out.
I have Nokian Hak4 that get out on for the winter, so I don't technically need "all seasons". That being said, The roads here kind of suck, potholes and such, and I drive a dirt road 10 miles a day.
So going with a runflat that has a good ride or non runflat and I'll take my chances with a plug kit, compressor, and and slime in the boot.
Of course I'm a spirited driver, so something that doesn't fishtail like the winter tires and has good cornering is preferred. Treadwear doesn't really matter, as these summer tires will only be on for 6 months of the year.
Standard 15" rims are what are on there now.
I saw the Sumitomo HTR A/S P01at tirerack.com. Thoughts on these, or something similar?
So, what say you NAM?

I used Hankook V12 Evo on mine R53 JCW and I like them.
Reasonable price with exceptional performance, and of course they will not break your bank either.

Assuming you have OEM 16" wheels then in runflats you can consider-
Bridgestone DriveGuard Grand Touring All Season tires
195/55-16 $128 each, 24 lbs, 500 treadwear
205/55-16 $142 each, 25 lbs, 24.9" tire diameter is slightly taller than OEM but will fit stock suspension fine.
Though technically you don't require all season tires they allow you to be lazy about changing tires or be not concerned about being caught off guard with some fickle weather.
See tirerack tests-
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=183
It is similar to other Grand Touring AS non runflats that Bridgestone offers which is pretty good for a runflat. The alternative 205/55-16 size gives you more sidewall for comfort and fills out the wheel gap.
What is your budget?
If you are looking for good value then-
In High Performance All Season tires:
Kumho Ecsta PA31
Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 (H of V speed rated)
Yokohama AVID ENVigor (H or V speed rated)
These come in various tire sizes to fit 15" to 17" MINI wheels.
