2012 r55 jcw clutch/flywheel cluster @#$&
Hi. I am new to the forum but just want to say thank you in advance for all of you guys and gals on this forum. You are great!
So here goes. On April 15, 2014 I took possession of the car I have wanted for some time. A 2012 cClubman (r55) JCW. It has 19,000 miles on it. Took it to MINI to get inspected and they said it was great except the clutch needed to be replaced. It thought that was strange for such low miles but it was covered under the maintenance plan so no biggie. After they get it apart they call and tell me that the flywheel also needs replacing so that is $1100. With! They ended up replacing it as a courtesy. Fantastic! Got the car back. Drove all of 50 miles and bam....can't get it in gear. I started smelling burning clutch. It finally went into 3rd but I had to hold it in gear. I parked the car and turned off the engine. Restarted it and the shifter felt fine again except if I put it in neutral and released the clutch, the car will stall. Though I can put it in gear, the car won't move. As I release the clutch, it makes a big "thud" then almost stalls unless I engage the clutch again.
So, the car is back at the dealer now. I am just curious if anyone has any rough ideas of what it could be. Honestly I'm just looking for possibilities so that I don't just blindly accept the dealers explanations. I am thinking it could be a bad / installed incorrectly throw out bearing or pressure plate.
Once again, thanks for the help

So, they fixed it all under warranty. Involved another new clutch, another new flywheel and a brand new transmission. Took a month total. But guess what? It is going back to the shop because the gas gauge isn't working right (ran out of gas when it said I had 1/4 tank) and the engine is reving at idle to keep it from stalling. 700rpm..800...1000...1400...700. With! And the turbo all of a sudden sounds a lot louder than it use to. Oh well...I love the car anyway
