Oil consumption during break-in?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced oil consumption with the turbo engine during break-in, and also if it eventually went away.

I took my CM in for the first service at 4500 km (2800 mi) and the oil was down 1/2 L/qt. When I had checked a while back it was only down by 1/4. Unfortunately I didn't think to check the levels when I took delivery. Anyways, I raised my concern to my MINI dealer and they verified that my reading was correct. After they had performed the oil change they told me to check it again in 1000 km and to call them if there is any consumption then.

I googled this and it seems that some folks have experienced oil consumption with this engine. I also know that some oil consumption is normal, and assuming that mine came from the factory at the full mark and extrapolating from my readings, 1 L every 9000 kms really isn't that serious. But it sort of bothers me, this being a new car and all. I also read some posts from some techs that said this engine is known to consume a bit of oil during the break-in period (and then stop), and I'm hoping that's the case here.
