I just purchased a Mini Cooper yesterday so now I can say that I am an official Mini Cooper owner

I got a 2011 white Mini Cooper Hatchback with only 13,0XX miles. Scooped it up for only $13,000 from a private owner. It was his wife's car, who recently passed so he was very sad parting ways with it

I have 3 more months of maintenance warranty left and 1 more year of limited warranty. Debating on whether I should purchase the extended warranty. A salesman at Mini Hawaii quoted me at $2500-2600 for extended warranty (he did say he's not 100% sure though). That's such a ridiculous price, after seeing some ppl on here got it as low as $650-1000.

 

Make sure you're not comparing an 'extended service plan' with a true extended warranty.

 

Verify the extended warranty is offered by Mini (or BMW) and not by a third party. My experience has been poor with third party warranties. Problems include a need for preauthorization before warranty work can be done, deductibles, limited coverage, and difficulties getting remedies for intermittent problems (i.e. the component hasn't failed yet).
