belt tensioner and pulley DIY

I know there is info here somewhere, I am just not finding it. I broke a belt this morning on the way to work and I know my idler pulley and/or tensioner pulley was not spinning well when I checked it a few days ago, also the broken belt looks like it was melted in the form of the pulley surface.

I have a new idler pulley and tensioner, just need some reference material to make the job quicker.

Thanks!
