Clutch pressure

Hello again all. I changed my clutch and pressure plate with a factory set up. Put the trans back in and all went fine. Now the car won't start and if I put it in gear and hot start the car moves. Any ideas as to why the clutch is mashed and won't release. I have it in correctly and have pulled the trans twice and same result.

How does the pedal feel? If it feels spongey, you have air in the clutch system and need to bleed it. (Might not be a bad idea anyway; the fluid is hygroscopic like brake fluid and should be changed out every couple of years so the internal parts don't develop corrosion.)

If the slave cylinder is visible, have someone work the pedal while you look at the slave. (Not sure if it is on our cars or not.) The piston should extend out of the cylinder, even a tiny bit.

Check the connection between the pedal and the master cylinder. It's not likely to be a problem, but it's at least worth inspecting.

You could have a problem where the piston is extending from the slave cylinder, but it isn't moving the pressure plate. Check the slave cylinder mounting, and check whatever linkage there is between the cylinder and the throw-out bearing. And the connection between the TOB and the pressure plate.

Make sure the clutch disk isn't in backwards; I think that can cause the clutch not to release. Also double-check the clutch plate--I think I have read on here where someone got the wrong clutch from a vendor?

That's all I can think of offhand...

Did you reinstall the clutch fork? I have forgotten to do so (temporarily) in the past.

Ok so found the problem. The flywheel turn internal and caused the issue. Got it fixed and now back to motoring. Thanx guys

What do you mean by "flywheel turn internal"? Did the flywheel itself fail somehow?

The flywheel internal has the tension springs for the clutch. And it spun upon itself one not h set out causing it to lock into place and not totally release the clutch disc. My trans went up a little tight and may have put undue pressure against it and when I hit start it locked and spun.

Oh, so the dual-mass flywheel failed? OK, I think I understand.
