R59 Ride
Ride
I've had my roadster for about 20 months now. I love this car EXCEPT the ride has increasingly bothered me. The harshness over ridges in the road and pot holes (seems like this year is one of the worst for pot holes I can remember) really take away from the fun.
I have 24K on the car and still had tread left on the run flats but I finally bit the bullet and replaced them. What a difference. I wish I dumped the rock flats (my new name for run flats) long ago. I replaced them with Continental Extreme Contact DWS from The Tire Rack. Also ordered a spare tire from Way Motor Works. If my boot is full I will carry a small compressor and a plug kit. If the boot is open I'll keep the spare in there.
I posted some of this in tires but I wanted to repeat it here to let my fellow roadster owners know. If you are like me - love the car but hat the ride - consider a change!

That was one of the first thing we did on the car. We got a set of summer Michelin Pilot SS (very sticky and comfy tires) and a dedicated set for the winter Michelin X-ice3.
Selling the run flat wasn't too easy but it paid for about 90% of the winter tires so I'm happy with that.
Other than the obvious about the winter tires being soooo much better during snow and extreme cold temperature, the nice thing about it is that we mounted them to our 16" wheels that came with the car. It gave us a little better ride for the pot hole season! And I kind of agree, this year seem to have been particularly hard on potholes. Even our street is completely shattered with giant pit...
Anyway good move dillo99...
I was also concerned about not having a spare but we got equipped and we'll be fine. We don't carry the spare all the time. It is meant for longer trip. We got some slim and pump that fits just perfectly under the passenger seat. A set of hole plugs great to have in the glove compartment. And a spare that we plan to use on long trips or if my wife isn't too far for me to bring it to her... I'm not too worried.

Dillo99, just curious, do you have 16" wheels? We had a 2007 MCS convertible with 17" run flats and when we got the 2014 Roadster with 16" the ride was so much smoother !
I'm looking to get a set of winter tires, so I guess I'll see if there is a big difference from the stock all seasons.
