Valve cover assembly

Does anyone know if the valve cover gaskets have anything to do with leaking oil through the turbo feed line ? My dealer told me i have a bad/leaking valve cover, not related to the gaskets.I have oil leaking back and front near the valve cover.

Not sure that I follow your question as it doesn't sync up with the dealer response.

But if your oil line on your turbo was leaking that would be seen as oil up by where the banjo bolt locks the line down to the turbo. You can get a replacement oil line kit from Chad at DetoitTuned.com it is a better design than the OEM and cheaper.

However, it is possible to have the valve cover leak but not at the gasket. There are a couple of holes around the edges of the valve cover that I believe are part of the manufacturing process as they where on the replacement one that I bought also.

The valve cover is a multi-wall design. so those holes shouldn't matter if all else is good.

But in my opinion I think it is a moot point cause if I recall correctly the replacement valve cover includes a replacement gasket.

The cover itself is not serviceable as it contains the PCV system. Once it is clogged it is game over and MINI sells you a new one.

Please take a picture and post it here to help us help you.

Turbo oil line leaks and any potential valve cover gasket or valve cover leaks are unrelated. However, if enough oil is leaking from the turbo oil line, it will shoot the oil mist towards the front of the valve cover.

A leaking valve cover gasket has nothing to do with the turbo lines leaking.
