Anyone heard of a factory training vehicle?

I recently purchased a 2010 Clubman S with every option box ticked. ~1200 miles. The carfax is clean, and it's at a local mini dealer. They explained it as having been a training vehicle for mini technicians, which is why it has so few miles despite being a 2010. Has anyone else heard of or bought something like this? If so, what was your experience?

Depends.

Training aid vehicles may have been driven or delivered to a training center. Factory techs wrench on the cars in a lab setting.

Car may have been;

Owned by corporate, and limited to low miles before handed off to a training center.

Driven lightly for a training aid, sometimes they do this at the factory level. Sort of a factory training road show.

Mis-ordered or Mis built and then "written off" and used as a training aid..

Lots of reasons. As long as it has a clean bill if health, that's all that matters.

I'm surprised they would sell such a car to the public. Generally internal training vehicles are given to a tech school or sold internally at a corporate auction.

As it was explained to me, it is the first of your list. It has a clean bill of health and hasn't had any reported accidents or anything (naturally); I'm just curious if anyone else has any experience or knowledge related to them.
