Polishing piano black interior trim pieces

What do you guys use to polish the interio trim pieces, getting the swirls out?

how did they get swirls????

pre-swirl I'd use Pledge . . . that's all I ever used on mine

post swirl I'd use Mother's Cleaning Paste wax .... by hand or a small buffer like Griots
http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ortby=ourPicks

this has a VERY SMALL amount of polish compound in it.

Or just paste wax over it by hand . . . .

polish vs wax ... do you know the difference?

I know the difference, it is a 2010 that I bought 3 months ago. I don't know how the swirls got there. I am trying to get rid of them.

About the only way to get rid of swirls is with a random orbital and a very fine polish. The material that got swirled I'm guessing is plastic so you want the polishing pad to be super clean and buffing cloths to be very fine microfiber and super clean as well. By hand may get the job done but it will take a lot of rubbing. I'm betting someone cleaned the interior with some ordinary rag and didn't really care. Nice that you do. Good luck.

That is about what I was thinking, I do have an orbital, but I was hoping not to use it. I was thinking about using headlight polish first to see how it will work.
Thanks guys, will let you know how it goes.

Micro fibre cloth and plastic polish + patience would be my recommendation for swirls.
good luck

I have used a good paste wax / micro fiber towel on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 painted interior plastics and the chrome trim. Seems to be pretty good on shine and helping with the fine swirl marks. Works good on the chrome trim also.

We do carry Chemical Guy product as well a MINI Genuine Car products.

Chemical Guy's Blacklight is a good hybrid finish that hides fine swirls on black paint really well. I actually coated all of my "piano black" pieces inside and out (b pillars on doors on countryman, a pillars around windshield, and c pillars on either side of the back glass). It does really well to hide and protect.

Otherwise, if they are heavy somehow. I'd get a finishing polish and use it on the tip of your finger through a microfiber. It'll take you a while.

I have a three year old that has taken his foot to the door panel in the back of my car. I used CG Nano polish to get those out no problem.
