So my brother bought a 2013 Mini Cabrio in Florida....I live in Colorado. He calls me to ask how to fold down the rear seat. I have a 1977 Austin Mini -- HOW DO I KNOW. So can anyone of you great fellow mini-owners help me out? How does he fold down the rear seat.

 

I had a 2010 MCS cabrio, which was totaled about a year ago. If I remember correctly, on the top of each rear seat, next to the head rest, there is large "button." Press down on it and voila! The "button" is often obscured by the seat belt.

Although I'm sure a call to the MINI dealer would've quickly answered your brother's question, us NAM members are always glad to help!

Tell him to RTFM! I'm sure it's in there somewhere.
My 2005 is different as the key lock is on top of the seats and the release lever is accessed via the boot, this way the boot is secure even with the top down.

 

Maybe 2013s did not come with manuals. Or he just what bother you.

 

It's on the top outside edge of the rear seats. It locks with a key so he may need to unlock them before pushing the big button.
