misfire on multiple cylinders

Hi all. I just bought a used 2007 mcs r56 w 66k miles from a mini dealer a little over a month ago. The car has been great so far but having some issues now.. It came with a 1 month warranty and of course we run into problems just outside of the 1 month period. I'm getting a p0301 and p0303 codes thrown. Other symptoms include sluggish acceleration at times and a feeling of loss of power during part of the engine cyclr which seems consistent with misfires on at least 1 cylinder. The idle is also a bit jumpy and rough at times. I changed the plugs this am and they looked like they were original. The coil packs were really rusted and I'm thinking that could be the issue as well.

I tried rotating the coil packs and resetting the codes to determine if the coils were bad but didn't get a cel or code in the time I was able to drive around. For how long or how many times does a misfire need to occur before a code is thrown? I've attached a picture of the coils and im pretty sure that rust could be interfering with ignition in the cylinders.

Thanks for the help and thoughts

I have a 2012 and had my check engine light come on. Performance was a bit spotty too. Took it to the dealer. They said codes were for a misfire in cyl 3. They said plugs were good, but maybe a faulty coil. The swapped coils of cyl 3 and 4 and no check engine light. Check engine light came back on the next morning. Turns out it was a bad fuel level indicator. My SA said a bad indicator could cause engine to misfire or think it was misfiring. Can't remember which one he said. Not that this will fix your problem, just saying what mine was. I don't know what specific codes were being reported. I never asked. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Could be carbon build up I suppose. I had similar symptoms and I just had it cleaned today.
