Camshaft Positioning Sensor A

Yesterday my check engine light came on in my 07 mini S (about 70k miles). I brought it into autozone for a quick check and it seems it is being caused by my camshaft positioning sensor A (code P0014). I am curious if anyone has had a similar problem before. The only change I can really notice is sometimes when I have a cold start the car hesitates a little bit and has a pretty loud rattling start for the first 15 seconds. After the car warms up it seems to run just fine besides maybe when I am sitting a light and it is on low idle. Is it safe to drive? Is anyone have an idea what it might cost to fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also I just called the mini dealership service department and explained the code and problem to the representative. He explained that the codes they use are completely different and the only way he could give me further information was to bring it in for diagnostics. Is the normal? I am quite new as a mini dealer but it seems like they try their hardest to get you into the dealership as much as possible. With the information I have above I would believe a representative would at least have some idea of what the issue may be and maybe a quote, but no real help was given to me.

Regards,

So after some discussion I believe I am going to attempt to replace the camshaft position sensor A on my own and see if that helps. I just had a quick question what is the difference between these two items:

Beck Arnley 180-0679 Cam Angle Sensor : Amazon.com : Automotive Beck Arnley 180-0679 Cam Angle Sensor : Amazon.com : Automotive

Beck Arnley 180-0678 Cam Angle Sensor : Amazon.com : Automotive Beck Arnley 180-0678 Cam Angle Sensor : Amazon.com : Automotive

I know there is a difference in price but I want to make sure I get the correct part. Both parts say they will fit my vehicle, but is one the A sensor and one the B sensor?

Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated
